AI.CometStack Manual

Introduction
This app is designed for simplicity and ease of use. This guide will help you understand all features and workflows quickly. AICometStack cuts comet stacking from two hours on your desktop down to just ten minutes on your phone.
Menu Options
  • Files: Tap this button to select your FITS files (.fit and fits) in your File app. First, you will have to copy these individual files from your SeeStar/Dwarf to your phone Download folder.
  • Photos: Tap this button to select your image files (jpeg, tiff, png etc.) in your Photos app. First, you will have to copy these individual files from your SeeStar/Dwarf to your phone Photos.

Note: The reference image is the first file/image you select.

  • Samples: Tap this button to start stacking sample files in the app.
  • Help: Tap the Question icon to access this user guide. Tap the Back button at the top of the screen to exit the user guide.
  • Save: During the stacking, this button saves your current stack by star, stack by comet, and instant merge directly to the Photos app. After the stacking is done, it saves your star only, comet only and combine star and comet images.
  • Stop: Cease the current stacking process and start the final merge processing. Button will change to Stopping. Once final merge processing has finish, button will change to Restart. 
  • Stopping: Tap this button to quit final merge processing and button will change to Restart. 
  • Restart: Tap this button to restart the stacking. 

Understanding Stacks
  • Star Stack: Aligns images to the stars. The stars appear sharp, while the comet appears blurred.
  • Comet Stack: Aligns images to the comet. The comet appears sharp, while the stars appear blurred.
  • Merge Stack: Combines the star stack and comet stack.
    • - Unaligned Merge: An instant preview created by adding the unaligned star and comet layers.
    • - Final Merge: Produced after full processing; both stars and the comet are aligned and artefact corrected.
    • Note: These stacks are displayed in a scrollview. If you cannot see the bottom parts of the images, scroll downwards.
Premium Features
  • Save TIFF: Save your work as a 16-bit TIFF image to preserve maximum comet detail. Images are saved directly to the Photos app for further editing in third-party software. This feature requires a yearly subscription.

AI Technologies Used
  • Comet AI: Automatically detects the presence and exact position of the comet nucleus.
  • Star AI: Seamlessly isolates and removes stars from the frame.
  • Trails AI: Identifies and eliminates unwanted star trails.

Standard Workflow
  1. 1. Tap the Open button.
  2. 2. Select your individual source files. The app will automatically begin stacking.
  3. 3. Tap Save to export your final images.

For questions or assistance, please email ustransit74@gmail.com. If the app fails to remove the star trails or stack correctly, please write to us and provide your dataset for training via Google Drive etc. An app update will be release that is trained your images.

Subscription at $10 a year. 
Subscribe app to access all features. To subscribe, tab Save TIFF button in app and tab Subscribe. AI CometStack requires regular training at third party cloud-based GPU server. Training involves detection new comet and removing star trails.
Future Updates
  • - Ability to import video file and stack. 
  • - Single-tap for full-screen view, and tap again to toggle multiple views.
